SAE is part of the Navitas Group, which is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including higher education degrees in Creative Media, University programmes, student recruitment and workforce education.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and engaging academic manager to run our Games Programming and Web department at our London.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of Games Programming and Web degree/ diploma programmes.
• Ensure appropriate and timely timetabling, management of resources and fostering of a culture of inquisitive learning and teaching practice with your team.
• Advise on teaching resource needs, current industry practice and pedagogic approach to the programme.
• Engage in teaching activities as well as maintaining active relationships between SAE and industry partners.

Essential Criteria

• Masters’ degree in a related field, or Hons degree and a PG Cert Education/HEA Membership and/or significant relevant industry experience.
• Management experience within the field of education.
• Teaching experience, including the creation of session plans and preparation of materials.
• Experience in Games Design production pipeline and relevant software (3DMax, Maya, ZBrush, Mudbox, Substance Suite, Adobe Suite).
• Proven ability to create and build on industry links.
• Full working rights for the UK.

Desirable Criteria

• Specialisms including Unity, C#, C++, A.I., Game Optimisation, Mobile Development (Android &/or Swift), VR & AR, Graphics Programming, VFX pipeline and workflows.
• Experience in Web Design / Graphic Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Wireframing.
• Experience in project-based learning, flipped classroom and other contemporary forms of facilitating learning using technology, including virtual learning environments.
• Contribution to an open source project (Github, Nodejs, Python, etc).
• Involvement in outreach programmes or initiatives.
• Ability to teach (or willingness to learn to teach) across other disciplines (including common modules and modules from other SAE programmes e.g. Film, Animation, Audio etc.).

• Demonstrated ability in managing, motivating and supporting a teaching team and promoting collaborative working.
• Good organisational skills; creative, adaptable, resilient and able to work under pressure to organise, prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels of the organisation and stakeholders.
• Committed to continuous improvement and sharing best practice.
